Art Inspired Fashion: Mary Blair

Mary Blair is a juggernaut, she deservew her own post. Her name isn't well known but her influence is every where. We all know her work on Cinderella, Peter Pan, and the "It's a Small World Ride". Disney Illustrators have said they looked to get work for inspiration in creating "Tangled". She's no stranger to fashion either.

This ModCloth "Handsome Prints" dress holds Mary's color palette and simple geometric shapes filled with little patterns.

Disney Blogs put together some outfits reminiscent of Mary's work.

Art Teacher/Blogger, Cassie Stephens got crazy creative and took inspiration from Anthropologie's hand painted bags and made her own hand painted bag in "Its a small World Style"

ModCloth can't get enough off Mary Blair's childlike whimsy with this "Knit a Small world" sweatshirt.

  1. Wow! This was really interesting! Thanks for sharing!

    1. She's a lot of fun to learn about. There's a lot of her work for Disney movies on pinterest. I watched Cinderella a few weeks ago and saw it with different eyes knowing she painted each scene!!
